underbelly highlights items and stories from the collections of the Maryland Historical Society and occasionally gives a behind-the-scenes look at the H. Furlong Baldwin Library. Items from our library are available to the public from 10-5pm, Wednesday through Saturday.   1. My first glance made me think they were all acting, as in a play. Then after reading the article, it came to mind that maybe it has nothing to do with race, but rather the strange masks might be related to the 1918 pandemic flu.
